Meet the Founder

Dr. Dashauna Ballard is the CEO and founder of Dashauna’s Beauty Emporium (DBE). She is a self-described beauty enthusiast and has always loved everything related to hair, makeup, and nails. Dr. Ballard decided to embark on a business venture (beginning with nails as the primary focus) during the COVID pandemic. During the nationwide quarantine period, she rediscovered an old hobby of doing her own acrylics and nail designs. She considers the process of creating nail designs to be a therapeutic self-care method that provides an outlet to showcase creative skills. She also feels that nails are excellent conversation starters, regardless of the setting.

Dr. Ballard has a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, a Master of Public Health degree with a concentration in Health Behavior, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Health Education and Health Promotion. Her ultimate goal is to marry her academic and personal interests to create a community-based mentorship program seeking to promote self-confidence and self-esteem in minority and underserved populations.
